Doggy daycare

We minded mum's dog, Scout again this week while mum and dad went to Lake Mungo. Let's just say it wasn't a relaxing time. Scout is now on 4 different medications (anti-convulsants, anti- depressants, anti-diuretics and something else that I can't remember). As I have been on day shift most of the week I was having to get up earlier that normal to shove all those tablets down her throat. Josie was deeply unimpressed by the whole thing and she and Scout were at odd a lot of the time. It's a pity that Scout is so high maintenance and irritating, because she could be quite a sweet little dog.

I haven't really seen the kids these holidays as I have been at the hospital for most of it. I have 1 more shift to do on saturday and then I'll have a few weeks off before starting all over again. This semester I'm only up at uni for 8 days in total. By the time this semester is over I will know if I have been offered a job for next year. My fingers are crossed, but I'm not very confident as there are always way more applicants than jobs. Oh well, I can always go on the casual pool for a while, there is plenty of work around.  I'm now taking my own patient load on shifts, so usually 3 women and their babies on the postnatal ward. I do antenatal appointments on my own now too and I usually manage the care of a labouring woman more or less independently. Some things still freak me out and other things that used to freak me out (giving injections, doing VE's, looking after premmie bubs) are now just par for the course. Progress of a kind I guess.
