Ruby and the rainbow ice cream

Last weekend we took the kids to see Disney on Ice at the entertainment centre. It was a surprise for them, we pretended we were going to look at kitchen showrooms, haha. We had good seats, right down the front and the children really enjoyed the show, even Simon was getting involved, cheering and clapping, so i was glad. At interval Brett went out and bought everone an icecream. Ruby's was a brightly coloured rainbow icecream, and i wondered if we would see any reaction.... An hour later the show was over and we left. Ruby asked for a toy, and I said no, because they were a million bucks each. So she threw the most enormous tantrum, involving lying in the dirt outside in the rain, with crowds of people milling past her, running away, dragging on my legs and growling at me through bared teeth. It was unbelievable and i could have cried. Then, half an hour later it completely stopped, like a switch being thrown. I'm starting to really believe in this food reaction theory, i'm planning on starting a food diary for her and see if i can pick any links. I don't think it's the only answer, Ruby is strong willed and naughty all on her own. But the behaviour on Sunday was like she was possessed.

I'm back at uni next week. That will be a test for everyone, I think the long holidays have lulled them all into a false sense of security that mummy is back. At least this semester i only have to be there 3 days a week, that will be much better. And i start back at prac again in a couple of weeks, which is good, now that i know my way around pretty much. I've wrapped up 2 of my follow throughs who birthed in June, i will ring the last 2 this week, and then i have 3 to birth in August, Sept and January. I need to recruit 3 more while i'm on prac which will be easy.

I went to the pet shop today and spent $50 on a new harness for Josie, which promised to stop her from pulling on the lead so much. She usually has a check chain, but she is so ridiculous, she strangles herself. I saw this one last night on a tv show, and it worked! It goes under her front legs and miracle of miracle the bloody dog actually walked instead of ripping my arm from the socket. Hooray!
