RIP Ray.

A sad week last week, with the death of our neighbour, Ray. He had been unwell for a while, but died unexpectedly on the operating table whilst undergoing a routine scope. He was 80 years old. Brett and I went to the funeral on Friday, which was a nice, simple service. Ray was buried next to his wife Pat, who died a couple of years ago.

Back to Uni tomorrow, and the next few weeks will be full on. This week will be taken up with lots of studying, as next week we have 2 exams, our practical skills assessment and our written exam for Foundations of Midwifery Practice. Then that Friday i have my orientation session at the hospital, because the foloowing Tuesday I start my practical placement! I'm really looking forward to that, can't wait to get in there and start learning lots and lots. The 3 of us who are at Wollongong Hospital are on 4 shifts a week, for 3 weeks, which is actually double the requirement for the course, so even though it's a lot of work it will be fantastic to get all that experience. I'm hoping it will go smoothly. Apparently there have been 6 stillbirths at the hospital in the last few weeks, which is pretty scary, it would be dreadful to have to deal with that on our first placement, as it would at anytime of course.

The kids have settled well back into school, and on my week off I got to do reading and maths groups with Ruby and Declan, so that was lovely. Now I have to find $90 for school photos and $300 for this term's fees! Where did I put that money tree.... ?
