Goodbye alarm

Yay! Declan has completed the alarm training and last week I drove back up to Westmead Hospital to return it. In the end it really did work quickly- we had 7 dry nights, then 10, then suddenly we were 3 weeks dry! Since the end of June, Declan has only had about 3 wet nights, but as we had already passed the 14 consecutive nights of dryness it didn't matter. I am so happy and proud of him! And it is lovely to walk past the nappy aisle at the supermarket and know that I don't have to stop.

We have just returned home from footy. Both boys played this morning at Port Kembla, and their games over lapped each other, so I spent plenty of time running from one end of the oval to the other, whilst also trying to keep Ruby in my sights. In my wildest dreams, if someone had told me 10 years ago that I would be spending my weekend mornings (at 8.30am!!) standing in the wintry sunshine cheering on children playing football, I would never had believed them. Growing up, we were not a sporting family, certainly not a team sport family anyway. Simon is still a bit hesitant about really getting in there, but he's improved heaps over this season. His kicking is much better and his hand passing and marking are too. Today he got in a few decent tackles and got off a good hand pass that resulted in a goal for our team, so he was chuffed about that. Declan still plays Auskick, which has the modified rules, and he did some good kicks too. He also got the trophy for "Most improved player" today, which was very exciting.
