Our Josie is very, very sick and may not survive. I took her back to the vet yesterday (tuesday) because she was not improving at all, not eating or drinking. The vet decided immediately to keep her in, put her on an IV and then operate to see what was going on inside her. I had Simon with me, we both gave Josie a big pat and a cuddle goodbye and she trotted away quite happily with the vet, even giving a little wag of the tail. We were concerned of course, at the thought of the surgery, but more or less assumed that it would be a matter of removing whatever foreign object might be there and she would be fine. But they vet operated this afternoon and found that her bowel was blocked with some fibrous material, which could be anything from a paintbrush she ripped apart a couple of months ago, to a bit of her bedding. This had caused terrible damage to her bowel which is severely infected. The vet said her had even considered removing part of the bowel, but, in his words, that "would not have been conducive to life." Josie is now sedated and is on medication to try and treat the infection and recover the bowel. The vet told us that some dogs pull through this, some don't. In her favour, Josie is young and healthy. She is only 11 months old, so her healing ability should still be good. The next 3 days are crucial. If I thought it would do any good I'd pray, but i don't think god would listen when there are more important things. Though not to us of course, she is our darling girl.

OH NO!!! :'(
That's not the news I was expecting...was kind of thinking it would probably be some weird object or something like that too.
Will be sending lots of positive thoughts over to Wollongong in the next 3 days!
