YAY!

Dum dee dum!!!!!! It's here, it's finally here! (weeping the relief). The school year has started. Thank you dear lord.

So last Thursday I sent ALL THREE children to school/preschool for the entire day. It was the moment that I have been dreaming of since Ruby was born. Not that I don't enjoy their company, I do. But I also enjoy my company, and doing things like grocery shopping without screaming and fighting children, or getting in my car and driving- just like that- without having to buckle 3 freaking complicated safety seat buckles while the kids fight about who is going to sit where and so and so hit them and I want that toy that's under the seat etc etc.

Anyway. Thursday morning I dropped Declan and Simon off at school. Dexie was Mr Cool. I felt slightly guilty that i wasn't standing there with a video camera and a normal camera at the door to the classroom, recording him walking into the room, like some other parents were doing. I mean, OK, i know it's an exciting day, but it's not like you never expected them to go to school or anything. So Dex was like "see you Mum." so I left, and took Ruby to preschool. The conversation with her went like this;

Me: "Now then, Mummy's going to go home now, and I'll come and get you this afternoon, ok?"

Ruby: ignoring me, looking at sandpit.

Me: Rubes? Are you ready for me to to go now?

Ruby: Ahhh, no Mummy! Don't go!

Me: (heart sinking) oh, you waat me to stay for a while?

Ruby: You take off my shoes so I pway in sandpit. Den you can go. Bye Mum.

Oh i skipped out of there!! Then Bianca and I went for breakfast down at the beach, followed by child free grocery shopping, and then we even went swimming!!! It was like a dream. The next day, Friday, I spent the whole day cleaning out the toy room and the kid's bedrooms and I took 3 boxes to salvos and chucked out a big green garbage bag of crap.

So now my week looks like this: Monday and Tuesday it's just me and Ruby.

Wednesday is playgroup

Thursday and Friday FREEDOM.

Today when I was driving home with Ruby from taking the boys to school Ruby piped up with, "Guess what Mum? I not a dog now, i Ruby!"

I said "Oh good, I'm glad, cos I love Rubies. Are you my Ruby?" To which she replied "Yes! I your Ruby, and you are my girl."
