So I finally got Brett his birthday present. OK, his birthday was back on the 6th of September, but never mind that! And it's not even that I forgot or anything, I had been trying to get this particular present since 3 or 4 weeks before his birthday. What is it!? I hear you all cry. Well, it was a replacement snow globe, err, globe thingy. Ok, here's the story, so get a cup of tea and settle back.
Brett and I went to America way back in the olden days before we were married and had kids. And Brett brought back a snowglobe from New York that plays the song "New York New York." For years we had it on the display cabinet in the lounge room, until Simon got to an age where he might be able to get at it. So Brett decided he would put it away somewhere safe until the danger years had passed. So he picked it up and immediately dropped it and broke it.
As you can imagine, he was not impressed, and since then the snowglobe with the broken glass globe has sat sadly at the back of the wardrobe. Until now!! After a very long search on the net I managed to find someone in America who sold replacement parts for snowglobes. See, I could have just ordered a whole new globe from the New York Tourist site, or I could have sent the snowglobe away to the states to be repaired, but I didn't want a new one and I didn't want to risk sending it in the post. Anyway, eventually I was able to order the replacement globe and it arrived and I spent several hours repairing it. Yay!!! Brett was very happy when he opened the box, he had never suspected a thing, lol.
Now I have to put Ruby to bed. She has just drawn all over the living room floor with a blue texta. The girl is lucky she is not going to boarding school.
