On Friday morning I caught the train to Sydney to meet Sarah and Shannyn. It's amazing how nice that train trip is when you're not going to work! I had to change trains at Central and so did Shanyn, so we met there as our trains actually pulled in at the same time on opposite sides of the same platform. It felt like I had known her forever, so I wasn't nervous at all, I mean we chat a few times a week so we know eachother quite well. So we hopped on the train down to Town Hall and went to meet Sarah at the statue of Queen Victoria outside the QVB. It was so cool to meet her finally! And again, it was like I'd known her for ages. We went to get some tea and we sat there for ages in the cafe talking. It was great being able to talk about the forum, the fanclub etc, about all the people I know on the internet but have never met. After that we walked through the QVB and up to Hyde Park where we had lunch and took some photos. The day went really fast, before we knew it Shannyn and I had to go to the station to go home. But Sarah will be visiting me in Wollongong this week sometime, so that will be great.
Then on Saturday night I went to the Yallah Roadhouse to see Josh. He's on his tour for this CD and it was my first chance to se him play with the full band. Mind you, Josh rang me that afternoon asking if the venue was north or south of Wollongong.... ever heard of a map? I drove down there (yes it is south) at about 7.30pm, as he was on at 10ish and I didn't want to be sitting there for ages. It was really packed! I had to park out in a bloody paddock behind the place as the carpark was full to overflowing. Josh had put my name on the guest list and the door guy told me to go to the band room. So I sat in there for a while chatting with Josh and Sarah (his girlfriend) until my friend Suzy arrived, then I went out and watched the support acts with her. When Josh came on I went and stood at the side of the stage with Sarah. It was so funny getting that view of the audience, there were some real nutcases in the front row. One girl was actually crying, if you can believe that. At one point there were about 3 or 4 girls doing this bizarre sort of tribal dance thing, Sarah and I were cracking up and then the girls saw us laughing and they stopped! LMAO. Anyway it was a good gig, and I waited around afterwards so Sarah could follow me home as they were staying with us, and obviously I wasn't going to trust Josh's sense of direction! But that meant I couldn't leave until 12.30 or something, as josh had to 'greet his people'. Mhmmm. I mean really...
The kids were very excited the next morning to see Uncle Josh and Auntie Sarah and they showed them all their toys etc. Josh and Sarah were driving down to the beach house for a few days so they left at about 9.30am. I went back to bed at 11am! I was bloody exhausted. I'm too old to stay out that late!
Tomorrow school starts again. Then Wednesday is a public holiday as it is ANZAC day. How dumb is that? I don't know why they didn't just extend the holidays by one day to go back on Thursday instead of starting and stopping. Oh well. Simon is marching with the Joeys in the parade for ANZAC day and I must remember to buy him navy blue socks.
