Well a very busy past couple of weeks! First big event was Sarah's visit. It was kinda in two stages, she came down to Wollongong for a day on Friday 27th April, and then again the following week and stayed for 2 nights. :)
Ruby and I picked Sarah up at the train station on the Friday morning. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great, being fairly cloudy, but at least it wasn't raining. We went up to the lookout on the top of Mt Keira, where Ruby tried to fling herself off from, and then headed back down to the beach and had fish and chips for lunch. After that we took a walk around to the big lighthouse and had a look at the surfers at South Beach. By then it was almost time to pick up the boys from school and preschool. Before Sarah left that afternoon I lent her my Swans hat, as she was going to the game on Saturday night- lucky thing!
That weekend Brett and I started putting the new floor down in the lounge room. No more concrete slab! Hurrah! It makes such a difference to the room to have a nice timber floor and a thick rug for the children to sit on. We got the quick-step stuff in the end after deciding that real timber was just going to be too much trouble and too easy to scratch and mark. So the floor is that timber laminate, but it looks really great and is soooooooo easy to clean. I love it.
On Wednesday morning Sarah came back to stay for a few days. Yay! By now Ruby and her were old friends, poor Sarah had Ruby following her like a little puppy dog the entire time she was here ;) All I heard was "Where Sarah gone? Where Sarah?" In fact Sarah looked after Ruby for me while I took the boys to swimming lessons that evening. On Thursday we went to the Nan Tien Temple, just south of Wollongong and had a look around. Ruby was not very zen or buddhist like and did not maintain a noble silence. That afternoon Sarah had a look around town and in the art gallery while I went to collect the boys from school. We had yummy mexican dinner that night. Friday was just a quiet day. I had to do the grocery shopping and Sarah wanted to get a few things for her bus trip down to Melbourne, so I had the priveledge of taking her on her first visit to an Aussie supermarket... woohooo!
When I took Sarah to the train station that evening all the kids gave her a big kiss and hug goodbye, especially Ruby. Today she said to me, "Sarah gone home." I asked her if she missed Sarah and she replied, "Yes, Sarah play a me!" :( Looks like you'll just have to move to Wollongong then, ay Saar?
On a completely different note, last night when we were getting into bed, Brett said to me, "Oh, when did you put that picture up above the dressing table?"
The answer?:- Seven years ago.
