Why!? Who is that ye olde fashionede familye? We spent 4 days at Bateman's Bay and visited Mogo Zoo, which was fabulous. It's a privately run zoo that is dedicated to the breeding of endangered animals and has white lions (absolutely beautiful), tigers, all kinds of primates, meer cats and giraffes. We all got to feed the giraffes with acacia leaves, which was lovely. The swoop of the long neck, the whoosh of breath, the gentle eyes as they pluck the leaves from your hand. Then a gust of wind blew up and spooked them all and they galloped away, like children in a playground. I half expected to hear them shriek with laughter. We also visited Old Mogo Town, which is an old gold mining village that has been restored into an outdoor museum. Hence the photo. Good fun to get dressed up and made me appreciate not having to wear bonnets and aprons on a daily basis....Work is good at the moment. I'm on the ward and I feel like I know what I'm doing. Very busy, yes. But the days fly and I feel like I'm helping and making a difference. There have been plenty of times when I've needed to ask about something or some procedure, but I've got through it and learnt how to go about things. I have another 2 weeks there and then it's on to antenatal clinc and Community Midwives. My hope is that by gaining in confidence in these areas I will feel better about going back to birthing unit later in the year. That's the plan anyway...
