Simon's last day

Simon finished primary school today. From that shy, quiet kindergartener to a quiet but confident 12 year old who is very ready to spread his wings a bit more.  We are very happy with the high school he'll be starting at next year and excited about the opportunities he'll be exposed to.  Simon is steadily slipping into his new, teenage persona which alternates between a smart alec know it all and a sweet little boy.  It's actually becoming a bit exhausting trying to keep up with him. Today I managed to mortally offend Simon twice in 5 minutes. I think it's safer to keep my mouth shut.

Ruby has been going to tutoring once a week for the past few months and we've seen some really good results. Her reading has improved dramatically and more importantly she now wants to read instead of trying to avoid it. Her writing is still a bit hit and miss- when left to her own devices her spelling is on the more creative side- but I can at least now understand what she has written.

This will be my last school holidays at home with the kids. I start work in February, which is good because it means I'll have a couple of weeks at home to setttle Simon into the new school routine, which will involve getting the bus to and from school. Then I'll be working 5 days a fortnight, which is pretty much perfect, I wouldn't want to do more than that at this point. I'm a bit nervous that I will have forgotten all I know by the time I start, but I'm sure it will come back to me quickly. Now that my final uni results are out, which I'm very pleased with, it should only be a few days until I'm offically a Registered Midwife.
