2010

It feels like 2010 started about two weeks ago, and suddenly it's new year's eve. This has been the year of big changes. Ruby started school, I started university. My grandmother died and my nephew was born. I've met people this year that i didn't know last year and my life is richer for them.

Yesterday I spent the whole day at the hopsital again. My friend gave birth, via caesarian, to her 4th child, a daughter, and i was priveleged to be a part of it, which was lovely. One of the things about living and working in a relatively small city is that you do end up caring for people who are friends and acquaintances. It's pretty special for me to think that I will get to see Isobel grow up after being at her birth.

I've been at the hospital so much lately, and i'm really exhausted. This morning I went in again to see Amanda briefly, then came home and slept from 11am till 1pm, which is something i don't think I've ever done unless I was sick! Still, I feel better for it now. There are another 2 women who are due to give birth any day now,so i'm on standby for them. And as we're not doing anything special for new year's eve tonight it doesn't matter if I have to go in for them. We've decided to forgo the fireworks at the harbour tonight and instead go to the Australia Day ones, next month as it's a nice night out before the kids go back to school. Although we watch them from inside Brett's mum and dad's place, which has a great view over Wollonging harbour, because Dexie still can't cope with the noise of fireworks and needs to take himself away and put his fingers in his ears. He was even pale and trembling over people pulling Christmas Crackers, so I think fireworks won't be a wise idea.

Pffffffft! It's hot today! We're going to take the kids for a swim soon.

Happy New Year to all, may 2011 bring you much happiness.
