I have felt a bit better about things this week. Ruby was sick with an ear infection on Monday, so Brett took the day off to take her to the doctor. I am still tired, but not so bone achingly exhausted. This weekend I got quite a lot accomplished- finished an essay that is due on wednesday, bought Simon his new footy boots, took him to footy today. Did I tell you about the car? No, i did not.
On Friday morning i took it to the tyre place (see last entry) I had worked it all out- tyres at 9.30. Rego check at 11. Kids cross country at 12. Easy!
Wrong.
Tyres at 9.30. Mechanic asks if I would like him to do the rego check while he's there. So i say, yes, great, thinking that would kill 2 birds etc etc. 10 minutes later he comes back and tells me that the car woun't pass rego because it has a million dollars worth of things wrong with it. Well, actually it was $1000 but it may as well be a million! Bloody bloody hell! Actually he was a very good mechanic, took me out to where the car was up on the hoists and showed me exactly what was wrong with it. Even to my untrained eye it was obvious things weren't right. So ensued a lot of organising and thinking quickly. Tyres were put on, I drove the car back to school, watched the cross country (which was run in 30 degree heat, and Declan ended up with heat exhaustion, so i took all the kids home early) Then Bianca drove her car and followed me back up to the mechanic's, where i left the car, and she drove us all home again. Thank goodness the car was ready by saturday arvo, and now the rego is complete. I will be glad to see the back of that car, it has cost me a fortune.
The children only have 4 days at school this week, then it is the Easter break and the school holidays for 2 weeks. I don't get a break with them, apart from the long weekend, but of course Brett will be home with them, so that's easy.
