CT scan

I took Simon to get his sinuses scanned today. It didn't take long, only about 5 minutes and Simon was really great about it all. I knew he was a bit anxious about the whole thing, mainly about having to lie still for any length of time. The radiologist helped him up onto the table and got him to lie down and then she placed some foam blocks against the sides of his head to keep him still. Finally she put the velcro strap across his forehead and then he was ready to start. I watched from the control room through the window, and it really was quite sobering to see your child on a machine like that. Even though the reason he was being scanned is relatively minor and innocuous, it gave me a little jolt. I was able to watch the images come up on the computer screen, and, although I have absolutely no experience whatsoever with CT scans, I'm pretty sure his right sinus was totally occluded. It looked very different from what was happening on the other side of his nose. Anyway, we wait now until the 21st of November for his next appointment with the ENT surgeon, when I assume he will schedule the operation.
