Since we got the old piano tuned up, Brett plays it at every opportunity. He gets home from work and sits down at it. On the weekends he plays for ages. He is writing something, some songs for a possible musical, and some of them are so achingly sweet that they actually make me want to cry. Our piano is very old and clunky and really needs another tune. So i can only imagine what the songs would sound like played on a concert piano.
Today was the boy's last AFL game for the season. They have both enjoyed it very much. Simon only played half a game today, he has been sick since Tuesday and off school. I now just walk into the doctor's with him and say "Same old, same old." and we get our prescription and off we go. Although I have to say he has been pretty good this year. Usually I live in hell from June until October with his constant chest infections and soaring fevers, but this year I got him to August with nothing!! Yeehaa!! I feel vindicated for all my trips to the doctor and paediatrician last year, sounding like a Munchausen's by proxy mother, trying to convice them that there was something wrong with this child. That no, he is not asthmatic, he is not just having a bad run. Simon simply must have at least 2 courses of antibiotics everytime he gets a chest infection. I can't leave him for a couple of days to see how he goes, once his fever goes over 39 degrees, that is it. He goes downhill like a stone. The good thing is that he is now bouncing back so quickly, and he is eating like a horse. The past 2 years, when we were still battling the constant infections, he would be sick for a week, take 2 weeks to recuperate, be just getting back to normal, when bam! He'd get sick again. Whether or not this is going to be a lifelong deal, I don't know. My hope is that if I can just keep him basically well for a couple of years he will get stronger and be able to fight off infections more easily.
