Every morning when I'm in the shower, the door opens after much twisting of the handle, and Ruby staggers in, squinting in the light. She brings a couple of toys in, puts them on the stool in the corner, then goes out and repeats the process until she has nearly her whole room in there. It would be nice to enjoy a shower in the warmth of the heater, but after she has opened and closed the door 4 or 5 times it is a lost cause. Yesterday I stepped out of the shower and started getting dry when Ruby wanted help with getting her toes back inside the foot part of her footsie pjs. (They are several generations of hand-me-down). I bent over her and she grabbed my boob, saying "Mum, I wuv your mittens... uh, mupples,um... mittles..." Well, hey, I'll take a compliment anywhere I find it! Especially in that department, breastfeeding 3 kids for 2 years each hasn't been kind.

Ruby is definately the most physically attached to me, out of the children. I don't know if it's because she is the youngest and has been "babied" longer, or because I nursed her longest, or if it's a girl thing. But when she sleeps next to me she runs her hands across my face, over and over again, which is nice the first time, and then infuriating, as she is asleep, and I'm not. She also does it when I carry her, or she sits on my lap and she's tired. The boys of course liked to snuggle up, and even Simon still likes to sit on my lap, although he is all arms and legs, it's a bit like having an Irish Wolfhound sit on you. I wonder if she will stay close to me? As a teenager will she still want to hug me? She is sprouting up now, getting more like a kid than a toddler. Her legs are getting long and her pot belly is shrinking. Sometimes I look at her and think, Oh, I will miss you when you grow up! (and then other times, like this week at the shopping centre, when she lay down on the ground in the middle of the car park and screamed, I thought that I can't wait for her to grow up.)
