Happy Birthday Ruby!

Ruby is 3.

Finally.

When I look back at the past 3 years it seems to have flown by. But there were many, many moments when I thought I would never get this far. Not to say that suddenly she is 3 and will magically become an easy going child. But I am gradually lifting myself out of that swamp of babyhood and into the world of real people again. At the end of January Ruby will start preschool 2 days a week. This will be the first time in 7 and a half years that I won't have a child at home with me. oh i cannot wait!

At the moment Ruby is in bed having a nap, after a monumental tantrum this morning. We were out late last night looking at the Christmas lights and then she still woke up at 6.30am today. So by 11am she was a wreck and getting clingy and screaming in my face because she wanted an ice block. Needless to say I didn't handle it well. Instead of cuddling her and speaking calmly I smacked her bum and shouted at her and then put her to bed. Patience has never been my strong point. But really, that child needs to learn to take no for an answer.
