Bits and Pieces.

Well, we're already 2 weeks into 2007! Only 49 shopping weeks till Christmas.

I feel like we have been quite busy and productive the past 2 weeks. Thursady before last Brett and I left the kids with Bianca for the day so we could go up to the airport. I had to work at the Domestic Terminal and Brett wanted to hang out and look at the shops. I had a lot of restaurants and eateries to do, so it was good having him along, so I didn't have to eat everything I bought! It was a nice day out and we both felt like we'd had a bit of a break. The following Tuesday we went up to Sydney again, this time Brett's parents minded the kids. We went to visit Ben, Rena and Esther. Oh my.... that baby sure is CUTE! And so, so tiny. Well, she was actually an average size baby, but you really do forget just how little thet start out. I got to have a lot of cuddles with her, and she's a little monkey, very alert for her age. She stared and stared at me with a big frown on her face and her eyes occasionally going crossed. Rena has that exhausted look of a new mum, but she is doing really well and enjoying her baby very much. Seeing that baby has reinforced once again that I definately do NOT want any more children. Esther is very gorgeous and sweet, even more so because she's not mine!

Work on the house has being going ahead productively. I have painted the other new bedroom, the one that the boys will eventually go into. It is a bright, bright sky blue, lol. The brightest blue you can imagine. Well, it was their choice. And it actually looks pretty good, once you get over the initial shock. We've also been finishing off the little things, like window trims and cornices and we've picked a colour for the walls when we repaint the rest of the interior. (no, it's not bright blue) Yesterday I bought a couple of curtain tracks for downstairs so we'll put those up today.

Simon and Declan have started their swimming lessons again, this time they are the only 2 students. They have been really very good, so much of an improvement since last time! The first lesson they cried and sisn't want to get in, but I got into the pool too and helped them and after a few minutes they were doing fantastically. Now Simon is full of bravado about how he is going to go swimming by himself in a river when he's a teenager. He's quite fixated on the idea of being a teenager at the moment and keeps asking me how many years until he can get his licence. Frighteningly it's only 10.

Oh my god. I had to have 'the talk' with the boys yesterday. You know the one. We were driving home from swimming and they started asking about how babies were made. They know the basic stuff about how babies grow in the mummy's tummy etc, but it's how they get in there that's the question now. And I actually used the sentence, 'when a mummy and daddy love each other very much they have a very special cuddle...' LMAO!!!! Thank god that was explanation enough at this stage, they weren't interested in the mechanics. But I heavily emphasised that this special cuddle is only for GROWN UPS, preferably over the age of, oh, I don't know, say 30?
