Ruby's Birthday!

Ruby is 2 years old! She is now an official toddler and no longer a baby, but of course she will always be my baby.

We had a little tea party with Brett's parents in the afternoon, with a cake and presents. We gave her the magna-doodle thingy that you can see in the picture, as she absolutely adores drawing on everything and anything. Brett's mum and Dad got her the Rolls Royce of doll's prams- this bright pink baby buggy that is just a scale model of the real thing. (And by that I mean a really fancy one.) It can go from a stroller to a pram and it comes with it's own removable bassinette and baby bag. LOL! Ruby loves it and pushes it about with all her dollies and teddies in it. Bianca gave her a bright blue shiny handbag with Princess written on it, which I think is extremely suitable.

To celebrate turning 2 Ruby decided to actually sleep through the night AND stay asleep until 6am, which was very nice after the shit week I've had with her. Once again I've had 3 sick children on my hands (did someone say school holidays?) but each one got sick and then passed it to the next, so it lasted a full week. Nothing serious, just temperatures and sore throats. The boys knocked their bugs over quickly and were fine in 24 hours but Ruby was miserable for two days and her sleeping suffered. Everyone is well again now though (TOUCH WOOD) so if we can just get through Christmas I'll be happy!

I have finished all my Christmas shopping, just need to wrap a couple of things tomorrow night. Today the kids and I made the gingerbread houses. I had to bake them at B's place on Wednesday afternoon, as I still don't have a functioning oven. It was nice though, it was rainy outside and the kids were happy playing, Ruby was asleep and B and I chatted while I cooked the gingerbread dough. A little bit 'country women's association', eh? So today I made the icing and we stuck the houses together and then covered them in lollies. I'll take one up to Sydney with me on Christmas day and keep one down here. I've also just made up another batch of cranberry fudge to take as presents for people. Just call me Martha Stewart!
