Hop Hop Hop!

Simon has been invested into the Joey Scouts! Last Monday evening we went to the annual family dinner at the scout hall which was a get-together for all the Joeys, Cubs and Scouts and their families. There was a big BBQ set up in the yard with a production line going for hamburgers, and after that we had dessert served from a buffet table. It was a good night, all the kids were very excited and loud, running around outside like little fireflies in the dark. After the dinner was finished all the kids formed a circle and then the 7 Joey Scouts were invested, which meant that they said the Joey Promise (to help other people) and then they lined up and received their badges and shook hands with the leaders. Simon was extremely impressed by the whole proceeding. When they were all invested the rest of the scouts and cubs gave them a Hop Hop Hop, which means that you jump up and down three times like a kangaroo shouting out hop hop hop. (Remember the Joeys are all 6 and 7 year olds, but the older scouts are in their teens, so the hoppping was a bit uncool for them, lol)

On Friday night Brett and I went to the school's trivia night, and it was a fantastic evening. We had such a great time. I'd never been to a trivia night before but I'd heard that last years had been a big success. All the questions were related to music trivia this year, which was good for Brett as he was in his element. We were also lucky to be at a table with some really nice people that we hadn't met previously, and it was a lot of fun. And a late night too, we didn't get home until almost midnight, which, these days, is like practically staying out all night for me! I was worried that Ruby might have woken up, as she has had a middle ear infection, but she was sound asleep and didn't stir until 6am. Her sleeping is in a good routine now, I no longer worry about it and it's such a weight off my shoulders.

Only one more week left of school and then it's the holidays! YAY! We are off to Port Stephens for a few days.
