Happy Mother's Day, me.
Look at these huge children! I remember when all 3 could fit between Brett and me in our bed. Although I also remember sleeping with my head on the bedside table because whichever child was in our bed at the time would sleep across the head of the bed, head on my pillow, feet on Brett's face. Ah... memories. Now Simon is about half a head off being as tall as me. He keeps asking me if I mind that he will be taller than me soon and I keep having to reassure him that, actually I will be glad when he is taller than me because a grown man being shorter than his mother is embarrassing. Declan is only about 2 cm shorter than Simon and I think he's going to outstrip him pretty soon.
We heard back about Declan's audition and unfortunately he wasn't selected. It actually makes no difference because it's our local school so he will be going anyway. Declan couldn't care less it seems. And I'm a little bit pleased as well because I know from other parents that being in the music program is a lot of extra out of school hours work. Apparently this year they had the most number of kids auditioning ever, so it was always a long shot.
This year is starting to slip away again, it's well and truly autumn now, the liquid amber tree next door has gone purple and yellow and orange. Ruby's early morning soccer games are played in the chilly air and it's dark at dinner time. In just under 2 months I will be 40.... FORTY! I have no issue with turning 40, but it just seems bizarre that I have been an actual grown up person for 22 years. That's crazy!
