Vee-Pee

Yesterday was Simon's best day EVER in his WHOLE ENTIRE LIFE!!! Actually it was very cool for Brett and me too. It was the end of year assembly at the kid's school, a pretty formal affair where they hand out special awards for achievement. The first great thing was that Simon won his class award for 'Committment to Learning and Overall Improvement", which he was very chuffed about. Then at the end of the assembly, the new vice-presidents and presidents of the students are announced. Simon was nominated and made his election speech a few weeks ago, which he did beautifully. And yesterday he found out that he has been elected as the boy's vice president for 2012. Yay for Simon! There are 2 VP's (girl and boy) and the same for preseidents and the 4 who were elected are all nice, normal kids. None are the in-your-face 'popular' kids, or the ultra sporty competitive kids who are always winning everything. The school takes the roles of the presidents very seriously and the kids will be expected to be quite mature next year and represent the school well. I think it will be great for Simon to have that responsibility. He was beyond excited and extremely proud of himself. As he should be.
