THE APPOINTMENT!

Remember how last year I made an appointment for Declan at Westmead Hospital to deal with his wee problems? The earliest I could get was for 6 months time- ie, this February. And YAY! The day finally came, no one rang me to cancel or postpone, no one was sick or injured and Declan still absolutely needed to go. So while the other two were ar school last Thursday, Dex and I set off on our very own adventure, driving up to Westmead (about an hour and a half drive) to the enuresis clinic. It was a stinking hot day, about 38 degrees, luckily the hospital is aor conditioned. Anyway, it was a long appointment, about 2 hours long, and very thorough. We have to go back in 6 weeks for a follow up, in the mean time Declan has to follow a program of how much he drinks and when he goes to the loo. When we go back they will assess how that worked and then they will tackle the night time wetting. The nurse who saw him believes that he may be one of the small percentage of kids who have a genuinely irritable bladder that will require medication to help settle it, and the next few weeks should show if this is the case. Declan is so far being really good and cooperative about the whole thing, and is doing as he is asked. It will be interesting to see how it all goes.
