Whew! Last week was hectic and lots of fun. As I have been harping on about, I went up to the airport very early on Wednesday morning to meet my friends. I left our house just after 5am and it was pitch black all the way to Sydney, not even the hint of a sunrise. It only took me an hour, so I was at the airport by 6.20am, perfect timing! I went and got some breakfast and then waited at the gate. Their plane arrived right on time so then I watched everyine come through, as there were about 6 planes landing at once. I love to people watch and it was a great way to pass the time. There was one young girl (i would guess about 19) who screamed hystercially when she saw her friends and she was so excited that she knocked an old man over with her luggage cart. I mean, OK, so she was happy, but really... After waiting for about an hour I finally saw Alicia, Pete and the kids come through! Yay! It was so cool to see them all. The kids are huge now, and it was the first time that I had met Little Simon (as we have taken to calling him) in person. We went and had a cup of tea and got the kids a snack while we waited for the van to arrive. It was like they had never been away. I left at about 9am and drove home and got Ruby from Playgroup. The that afternoon I took Alicia to the shops with me so she could get some food.
Of course that day was also Simon's 8th birthday! I didn't see him until the afternoon when Brett picked him up from school. We had presents then and he was very happy with his new, bigger bike. Brett took him out to ride it for a little while before dinner. I made Tacos, which is his favourite meal. Then on Thursday afternoon the kids and I went over to Alicia's for afternoon tea. It was so funny the way the kids interacted with eachother, they just immediately started playing like they had never been apart. When we left there were lots of pleas for more play days, so I organised for them to come over on Sunday afternoon. On Thursday night Brett and I went to see the play "Keating". His mum and dad got tickets for us, and it was really, really excellent. So funny! My friend Petra looked after the kids for us.
On Saturday my parents came down for lunch and to give Simon his presents. They haven't been since January, so obviously there have been a lot of changes, and they were impressed with the carpets and paint. The on Sunday we had Bianca and her boys and the Klepeis's over for yet more birthday celebrations (Simon's birthday basically went from Sunday to Sunday). Brett and Pete took all the kids across the creek for a while so Bianca and Alicia and I could have a good chat in peace.
So now we are nearly at the end of term 2! My birthday is this Thursday, a bit of a non event this year. I told Brett I want a new pair of running shoes, so that's my present. Mum gave me money for clothes and I bought some new jeans. At least we are going over to Brett's mum and dad's as usual on thursday night for dinner so I don't have to cook.
