so the deal is that Simon's blood tests came back normal . That's great of course and a relief to know that there is no serious illness lurking there. But as my doctor says too, that doesn't get us any closer to an answer. And at the moment, with Simon being well and eating and putting on weight, I couldn't care less about an answer. I just hope that he stays that way, at least for a good chunk of time. Obviously he is going to get sick again at some stage, he's a kid and they all do. The colds and sniffles don't worry me in the slightest. It's the sudden, scary slide into sickness that freaks me out, especially these last few times with such a short interval between them. But maybe this has just been a bad winter (or year actually) and maybe this will never happen again. Who can tell. On Tuesday I am taking him to get a pneumococcal vaccine to see if that helps. Usually it isn't given to kids over the age of 4 or 5, but the paediatrician thinks Simon's immune system could use a hand with fighting that particular bacteria.
Oh I am waiting, waiting, waiting for this awful winter to end. This has been a nasty one, really cold and miserable with just those few hot days in the middle to confuse people. The children are all coughing and blocked up with colds and i am SICK OF IT!!!! Still, not long now till spring. I should hear soon if Declan got into Keiraville (I am assuming he will) and when his orientation to Big School starts. He is so ready to go now, and I am very glad I kept him back a year, not that I had really considered anything else. He is actually already reading simple books, so I think he'll do great when he starts kindy next year.
