Ok whoops. It's been a while! These things have happened...
We went to Queensland for 10 days in November. This was a long promised, long awaited holiday for the kids. It was also the first holiday I have taken from work since I started in 2013. I had 3 weeks off in total and it was much needed. Queensland was great. I can honestly say it was the best holiday we've had with the children. Of course they had their moments of being shits, but mostly everyone got on well, were happy and no one was sick! Being big kids makes everything so easy. No one flung themselves into the pool and sank, no one needed afternoon naps, or sippy cups. There was no paraphernalia to lug around. I did have to take Ruby on some of the "baby" rides at the theme parks, but that was actually kinda fun.
Some other happenings:
1) I got a tattoo. Something I've wanted for ages so I went ahead and did it. It's a picture from one of the Famous Five books, of George and Timmy. Meaningful for me, and I also think it looks nice.
2) I had a 'girl's weekend away' at Milton, with three friends. It was lovely and relaxing, and the place we stayed was beautiful.
3) Poor old Ruby had to have 2 baby teeth taken out after a visit to the orthodontist showed that her adult eye teeth are coming down at completely the wrong angle and will cause her a lot of trouble in the future. We're hoping that this will leave some room and negate the need for major orthodontic work in the future. She was very brave and sensible and with all the happy gas and lignocaine the dentist gave her she didn't feel a thing.
4) Declan finished year 6! Um, what!? This year I will have 2 high school kids. He had his farewell dinner/dance at school and looked very dapper, thanks to the Salvo's and a big of creative sewing.
All in all, it's been a pretty good few months. The only negative was that I have been sent back to work on C2 (maternity ward), so my last day on the Thursday clinic was just before Christmas. This sucks, and was an arbitrary and not well thought out decision on behalf of management. But that's the way things work. I did feel quite pleased that everyone else also thought it was crazy and the staff I've been working with in that clinic are also really pissed off that I'm gone. Mostly though, I feel nothing, as I am sick of the whole culture. I have no problem with working back on the ward, I enjoy the work and I've had good shifts so far. But the lesson I have learnt from the past 2 years is "don't try to put any effort in to something, because no one cares." So I do my job and come home. Which is fine.

Have I told you that's a kickass tattoo? Well, it is. Sorry about work, hate that you're feeling that way about it. :/
