Scout the Dog

We are dog sitting my parent's dog, Scout, who is a 10 year old Schnauzer. She's staying with us for 10 days while my dad's cousin is visiting from England, so that they can go places that you can't take a dog to. Scout is sweet but very high maintenance. She likes to be with me at all times, if I even go upstairs without her she whines and whines until I come back. As long as I'm in the room she is a cutie, and no problem at all. She trots along happily as we walk the kids to and from school, she sleeps all night quietly on a cushion in Ruby's room, and she takes her medication like an angel... did I mention this dog takes antidepressants and anticonvulsant medication?

Anyway! Josie has been a bit put out by Scout's arrival, especially as, for such a small animal, Scout is very dominant and does not approve of Josie getting pats or cuddles from me. Scout bustles over and shoves herself between Josie and me and growls at her. Needless to say I don't put up with that and Scout has found herself outside quick smart. Now they tolerate eachother pretty well as long as neither gets in the other's space.

I spent a very relaxing first holiday week. Did the usual housework stuff, but also went to the library and got an armful of books to bring home. I've been spending a decent amount of time lying on the sofa, with 2 dogs lying on the floor beside me, reading my books and eating chocolate. My idea of heaven!
