Surgery

The day I have been not looking forward to has been and gone and I'm glad for that. Simon and I had to be at the hospital at 9.30am on Tuesday for his operation. He had been very nervous about it, repeatedly asking me if he was having the mask- had I asked the doctor? Were they going to give him a needle? Was I sure he was not having the mask? And so on and so forth. When I eventually was able to speak to the anaesthetist, I told him to story about Simon's fear and that he had asked for intravenous sedation. I think the doctor found that hard to believe, but in the end he agreed and popped a cannula in the back of Simon's hand. Simon didn't make a peep, he was so good. So he ended up drifing off with the fairies for a while, then going off to sleep and he actually has no memory of any of it. Yay for medazalan!!

We spent the night in hospital, and he was ready to come home first thing the next morning. We see Dr Mackay next week for follow up, but in the brief chat we had following the surgery he said he was pleased with the result and that the polyp wasn't as big as he had feared it would be. So that's really good news. So Simon is off school for the rest of the week, feeling a bit grumpy that he has to accompany me everywhere, lol.

Suddenly there are only 2 weeks left of school and christmas is looming. I haven't started the shopping yet, as I have absolutely no money spare at the moment. Lets just say that this Christmas will be very, very low key. And of course Ruby's birthday is before that and as usual I keep forgetting she needs presents for that separately. Wow, I really am a pretty slack mother! Oh well.
