The days are getting longer around here and it's so nice to be getting up in sunshine and coming home in sunshine. Ruby is under the impression the spring begins the moment the calendar gets turned to september, i think she'll be disappointed when the weather isn't instantly warm. She wants to go swimming at the beach later, so we'll go down there at about 3.30, let them get freezing in the water and then have a fish and chips picnic at the harbour.
I've done 3 days at the hospital this week, on maternity ward. I feel so much more confident now, and am taking on more responsibilty for my patients. I've been lucky that I've been working with a great midwife called Liz who really encourages me to give things a go. Next week i'm on antenatal clinic, and then birth unit the week after. I need to recruit a few more follow throughs, if i can get 5 more for the rest of the year i'll be happy with that.
I rang the ENT's office on thursday afternoon because we haven't heard anything about Simon's operation being scheduled. And sure enough, the ENT in sydney hasn't even written to Dr McKay about it yet. Or if she has, they haven't got it. So I basically demanded an appoinment ASAP, saying that this surgery needs to be done before christmas (it doesn't really, but i'm not waiting), and that I wasn't prepared to sit around waiting for letters to be written etc. And lo and behold, that mean secretary gave me an appt for next friday! LOL, sometimes you need to be a bitch.
So Josh and Sarah's baby is going to be born on Monday! They have booked a c section because the little treasure is not engaging and has resisted all attempts at getting him to, like acupuncture, moxibustion, exercises etc etc. At least they gave it a good go. I cannot wait to hear what bizarre name they've thought up for him! And of course I'm looking forward to meeting my little nephew, i think i'll go up and visit on tuesday afternoon.
