University life

I have been an official student for 2 weeks now, and I am utterly exhausted! It is exciting, envigorating, intriguing, fulfilling.... but so, so tiring. If i was 18 and had no kids it would be different. But I'm not, and I do, so I juggle, feel guilty, snatch time when I can and sometimes question my sanity. Just like every other parent who studies full time.

Midwifery is such a fascinating subject, and the lecturers and tutors have been (with the exception of one) great. I look at the assignments I have been given and think "Oh, i can do that!" instead of groaning at the thought of more work. And did you know- the library is on line!!! OMG. No more stalking out the special reserve to find the one copy of a journal article. They have data bases full off them that you can access from home. (I realise that is this not actually that special, but the last time I was at uni it was 1993)

I have made some friends that travel on the same train as me, we all have kids and we all know what we are going through to make this work. In May I start my clinical placement, which is nerve wracking, but also very exciting.
