Recurrence

*Sigh*

Simon's polyp in his right nostril has come back. We had the ENT appointment yesterday, and Simon was really brave, he had his push pop at the ready, lol, and it worked a treat. The doctor commented that having a lollypop available for other kids who had to have the same anaesthetic spray might be a good idea... hmmmm, do ya think?

Anyway, the examination showed that the polyp was regrowing, which wasn't exactly unexpected, but we were hoping we might get a few years in between. So right now the doctor wants to wait 6 months, do a CT scan and then see if the polyp is fast growing, and then decide what to do. It will mean another surgery eventually, the question is just when. Simon also has to have a blood test to check for the Cystic Fibrosis gene. Like last time, I find it highly improbable that a perfectly healthy 9 year old could have undetected CF, especially after a negative heel prick and sweat test. But it is the last test in the series to make absolutely sure, so of course we will go ahead with it.

Sheesh. Looking back on this blog is like reading a complete medical encyclopaedia of 'children with slightly strange and inconvenient illnesses.' LOL
