Although we were all pretty sure he would win, it is such a relief to see that Barrack Obama has been elected as the next President of the USA. Usually I have no interest in American politics, but this campaign has gripped us here as much as the States. I even felt past of it personally as I witnessed as signed Alicia and Pete's absentee votes that they sent off a few weeks ago. Let's just hope that he delivers what he has promised.
Simon has started in the School Swimming Scheme, which runs every day for 2 weeks. It's a free program given by the education department for children in Year 2 and above who can't swim. Simon is still incredibly anxious about swimming even though he is happy to lie on the bottom of the bath, totally submerged. But put him in a pool and he freaks out. Anyway, he has had 3 days of lessons so far and he seems to be enjoying it and making some progress. Of course I only have what he tells me to go on as it's all during school hours. At the moment he is in his room shouting at me because I am such a mean mother and I don't listen to him. I think the swimming in the morning is really tiring him out and he is cranky. And he is an 8 year old boy :(
Last Friday Declan was in a play at school, and oh my goodness it was so cute! His class put on a play called The Trial of Goldilocks, where Goldilocks gets taken to court for breaking into the bears house etc. Declan was Father Bear and his big line was "And you upset my family!" He has been reliving it ever since.
