School's BAck!

School's back! Yay! It's nice to be back in a routine again. I do enjoy the holidays, being able to have easy starts to the day, the kids can stay up a bit later without a problem, and of course I love all the summer stuff. But after a while it's time to get back to real life. Simon started back at school yesterday and what a difference a year makes! He strode jauntily into the playground and was soon standing with a gaggle of other boys, talking about whatever it is that 6 year old boys talk about. A quick kiss (which he wiped off) and a "bye Mum." and he was off. Phew! Today the new Kindy kids started and they looked sooooo tiny in their uniforms! Amazing to think that next year it will be Dexie's turn, although he will tower over the other kids I'm sure. Put a uniform on him now and he looks old enough for school. (Of course he could actually start now, as he turns 5 next month, but I will keep him back until he's nearly 6.)

We started back at Playgroup today. Declan is now the oldest kid there and there are no other boys anywhere near his age. I'll see if anyone new joins this term, but I'm considering booking him for another day of preschool. His school has just started running on Wednesdays as well, so I might look into that. I don't want him getting bored. Ruby has lots of little friends around her age at Playgroup, so she's fine. It's so cute, she's really started playing with other kids now, and she loves to do things like hold little tea parties and play with her dolls. Such a girl! I'm not sure where that came from, it has nothing to do with me, that's for sure.

Speaking of Ruby, she is now almost toilet trained! Such a big kid now. Let me just say, I did nothing to train her, she has worked it out herself. I am actually the laziest mother in the world, and toilet training has never been high on my agenda. But a couple of weeks ago I dragged out the old potty and suggested to Ruby that she could try doing a wee on it. "Oh, ok." she said, casually, as she plonked herself down on it and did a wee! LOL! Since then she's been in undies during the day and she is soooooo proud of them. I bought her a pack of 5 from Kmart and the first time she put them on she wanted to wear all 5 pairs at once. Whenever she meets someone she knows she lifts her dress up to show them her beautiful butterfly undies.
